The Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence (BGCP) is committed to fostering a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all members of our swim team program. As a parent or guardian, your involvement is essential to the success and well-being of your child and the team as a whole.

By enrolling your child in the BGCP Swim Team, you agree to abide by the following Parents’ Code of Conduct:

Supportive Behavior

• I will encourage my child and all team members in a positive, respectful manner during practices, meets, and team events.
• I will celebrate my child’s enjoyment of the sport rather than focusing solely on performance.

Respect for Coaches and Staff

• I will respect the coaches’ authority and decisions. I will not undermine coaching during practices or meets.
• I will communicate with coaches in a respectful and constructive manner, using designated channels and times rather than during practice times.
• I will trust that the coaching staff has my child’s best interest and development in mind.

Respect for Swimmers

• I will not coach or instruct my child or other swimmers during practices or meets from the sidelines.
• I will respect all swimmers regardless of skill level, background, or performance.
• I will foster teamwork and inclusivity within the swim team community.

Respect for Opponents

• I will show respect for meet officials, volunteers, and opposing teams at all times.
• I will never engage in unsportsmanlike behavior, including arguing or making negative remarks about others.
• I will model good sportsmanship for my child.

Safety & Supervision

• I will ensure my child arrives on time, is prepared for practice/competition, and is picked up promptly.
• I will inform staff of any medical conditions or changes that may affect my child’s participation.
• I will help my child understand and follow team rules and expectations.

Commitment to the Program

• I will make every effort to have my child attend practices and meets regularly and on time.
• I will volunteer or contribute to team events when possible, understanding that our team thrives through family support.
• I will honor the mission and values of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence.
